House of Raeford FLOCK CELEBRATES NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDER DAY
Lindsay Skidmore

First responders are our hometown heroes, protecting us every day. This year, FLOCK, the non-profit outreach arm of House of Raeford Farms, coordinated a special celebration to honor select School Resource Officers (SROs) chosen by FLOCK for their ongoing dedication and sacrifice in protecting students and staff. Their presence each day provides safety, builds trust, and fosters positive relationships within our schools.

During the celebration, FLOCK presented each honored SRO with a plaque and gift card, thanking them for their service in protecting our schools, as well as for the mentoring and positive impact they have on students.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at East Duplin
Dena Jenkins

Our school has been celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with fun and engaging activities for students and staff. Hispanic Heritage Month, observed each year from September 15 to October 15, honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic Americans.

Each morning, students hear a special fun fact about Hispanic heritage during announcements. Throughout the celebration, students and teachers have shown their school spirit with themed activities, including Sombrero Day and piñata-busting during lunch. The events have brought smiles, laughter, and a greater appreciation for Hispanic traditions and culture.

The celebration will continue until October 15 as our school community recognizes and honors the many contributions of Hispanic people in our history and daily lives.

Senior Wins Computer in Student Drawing

Congratulations to Hannah Kennedy, a senior at East Duplin, who won a brand-new computer in this year’s student drawing. The computer was generously donated by a former student, showing the lasting impact of our alumni community.

At the beginning of the school year, students were entered into the drawing, and Hannah was selected as the lucky winner. We are grateful for the support of our alumni and excited to see how this gift will benefit one of our own seniors as she prepares for her future.

Congratulations to Assistant Principal of the Year!

We are proud to celebrate our very own Mrs. Beverly Sholar, who has been named Assistant Principal of the Year!

Mrs. Sholar began her career in education in 2002 and has served as an administrator at our school since 2019. During her time here, she has proven to be an outstanding leader who is dedicated to supporting both students and staff. Known for her strong rapport with students and her willingness to help in any way possible, Mrs. Sholar is a true asset to our school community.

We are grateful for her commitment and leadership, and we are thrilled to see her recognized with this well-deserved honor.
