Dear Students & Parents:

I am excited to welcome students and parents back for the 2026-27 school year!  This coming year will be one of exciting change with new students, new staff, and pending school construction.  It is, without a doubt, the best time ever to be a Panther!

Our school prides itself on being a community-based school, bringing together some of Duplin County’s best students and communities.  We believe that we have the best school anywhere, because we have the best students, the best parents, the best teachers, and the best communities around. Whether you join the East Duplin School family by coming from B.F. Grady, Beulaville, or Chinquapin Elementary schools, or join us from other areas, we are excited to have you become a part of our Panther family. Remember, as an EDHS Panther, you have high expectations to live up to!

The goal of our faculty and staff at ED is to see you grow throughout your high school experience, so you can be the very best version of yourself.  These four years will be a time in which you will grow daily, both academically and also personally. These are the years that you test your driving skills, prepare you for work or college, allow you to register for the Selective Service, help you become an educated voter, and allow you to work towards your diploma.

This time will also be one of challenges.  That being said, one of the greatest skills that we encourage our students to work toward is resilience.  Growth comes with challenges and is oftentimes uncomfortable.  During this phase, we encourage each of our students to explore the learning opportunities that are presented from each and all experiences.  Most importantly, we encourage each student to remember that the way you respond to these challenges and learning opportunities is often the best experience of all, and helps to establish various character-building opportunities.

Your ultimate success and failure will be determined by how you value your education and the opportunities that arise from it. Remember to set goals for yourself, both short-term and long-term.  Use your time as an ED Panther to dream big, work hard, and grow!  Most importantly, remember you are the key driving force in your ultimate success!

As you embark on the beginnings of adulthood, I challenge you to remember you are only a few key semesters away from huge life milestones and only 8 semesters away from graduation.  These milestones come along with responsibility and accountability along the way.  The choices you make during this journey will ultimately help you work toward your post-secondary goals of moving on to college, joining the military, or embarking on the beginnings of a career.

Again, it is our desire that you have an amazing experience this year and throughout your entire high school experience. If the administration or faculty can be of assistance to you at any time, please do not hesitate to call on us.

Once a Panther, Always a Panther,
